1. My grandpa, Mike McCoy, would be the most influential leader I have ever known. I want to grow up and be just like him. He went into the Marines. He served at Camp Pendleton. After that he went onto working in the undercover narcotics, then to the Sheriffs office. Now he works as a detective for Early Police Department.
2. I feel like this means that all anyone wants is to be loved and to have someone to love. Yes I agree. I feel like we humans use poetry as our dream world. Its where we can fantasize about different things.
3. Yes, I agree many people view things differently from other people. We look at things in different ways to find what will work best. The most recent thing that I had to look at differently would be this class. I felt like I didn't need it because i am going to the Marines. However, I also need to take it to prepare me just in case I change my mind.
4. The verse that would best describe me is a friend till the end. i always try to help anyone who is need. I hope that my lasting impression was that I was a great friend to all and an enemy to none.

Thursday Blog Questions
Thursday Bolg Questions
1. I don't think he would have killed himself as soon as he did; having said that, I don't think that it was Keating's fault. All Keating did was encourage him to be who he wanted to be. I feel like his father played the biggest role in him killing himself.
2. I feel like Todd was the bravest boy in Keating's class. This is because he stood up in front of Nolan for his belief that Keating was not to blame for what happened. He also rallied the boys to stand on top of their desks and cheer for Keating. I feel like Cameron was the coward of the movie. He went and told Nolan that it was Keatings fault for what happened. He did this to save his own butt.
3. I think Keating put the book in Neil's room. I feel like he did so because he secretly wanted them to start the Dead Poets Society up again.

Carpe Diem
Carpe diem is a Latin word which means the enjoyment of the pleasures of the moment without concern for the future. After watching the Dead Poets Society, I feel like that was the main theme throughout the movie. That was Mr. Keating's motto on everything in life. He was an English teacher at Welton Academy, an all boys' school, which he himself attended many years ago. Keating is the kind of teacher you love or hate. Some people viewed his teachings techniques as unusual. They felt like he was teaching the boys to break the rules and requirements that their school and parents have put in place for them. The boys that were in his English class, Keating was an inspiration to them. They enjoyed going to his class and learning about different poets, like Whitman and Thoreau. They loved him so much that they brought back is old poetry group, Dead Poets Society, back without anyone knowing. He taught the boys to believe in themselves and to think for themselves. One example was when Neil followed his heart and tried out and made the school play. A real good example is when at the end of the movie when Todd, who is very shy, spoke out to Keating telling him it wasn't his fault. Todd also got up on top of his desk and quoted Whitman by saying farewell O Captain! My Captain! So make the most of your life before you die by following your dreams.

Follow Up Questions
1. I think the character who went through the most change was Todd. In the beginning of the movie he wasn't really a talkative person. However by the end he stood on the top of the desk and shouted O Captain! My Captain! to Keating.
2.I think the girls are the most static in the movie. This is because nobody knew how they actually lived unlike we do about the boys. It was like the girls lives were really secret.
3.Mr Keating to me is a round character. At first he really didn't worry about the boys and now he cares about them a whole lot. He got into their minds and started to take over and they figured out that you can be daring just don't be stupid.
4. Todd was scared of speaking in front of people but when Mr Keating took him to the front of the room and spun him around he felt better about it but he slowly started to talk in front of the class and he eventually got over his fear.
Neil Perry was scared of his dad because his dad told him what he could and couldn't do. Every time he asked his dad do to something his dad told him no. In the end he finally stood up to his dad and he told him what he wanted to do.
Knox Overstreet was scared because he wanted this girl and he didn't know if she liked him or not.
Charlie Dalton was scared of comforting.

Betty & Spencer
Betty was not happy in her marriage to Spencer. It was nothing like she dreamed it would be. She wanted to have a man love and support her emotionally, financially, and physically. Spencer was not the right man to do this. She talked with her mother about her feelings. Her mom told her that she could not come and stay with them. This is because she herself was not happy in her marriage. Her mom was raised that you stand by your man no matter what. I think that she was kinda jealous of Betty because she had the nerve to go against Spencer.
Katherine was subversive
The school thought that Katherine was subversive. According to the dictionary, it means tending or intending to overthrow, destroy, or undermine an established or existing system. This is very far from what she was intending to do. Katherine saw a lot of potential in the girls. They had an eagerness to learn things and she was ready and willing to teach them. Not only was she teaching them what the school wanted she was adding her own twist on thing. I feel like if we had more teachers like her we could learn more.
